Day 1
Dar es Salaam – Drive to Mikumi National Park
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Dar es Salaam as you drive southwest to Mikumi National Park (approx. 6–7 hours). Along the way, enjoy views of rural Tanzania, small villages, and the scenic Uluguru Mountains. Arrive in Mikumi in the afternoon for a short introductory game drive or time to relax at your lodge, depending on arrival time.
Day 2
Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park
Today is dedicated to a full-day game drive through Mikumi’s vast savannahs, which are home to large herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and a variety of antelope species. Predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas are also present. Explore different areas of the park including the Mkata floodplain and Hippo Pool. With picnic lunch in the bush, enjoy uninterrupted wildlife viewing until sunset.
Day 3
Mikumi – Drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (approx. 1.5–2 hours). Upon arrival, settle in and enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring the edge of the park or visiting nearby villages. The Udzungwa range is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains and one of the most biodiverse forest areas in Africa, sheltering endemic monkeys, rare birds, and hundreds of plant species.
Day 4
Hiking in Udzungwa – Sanje Waterfalls Trek
After an early breakfast, embark on a guided hike through the rainforest to the spectacular Sanje Waterfalls, which drop 170 meters in three tiers. Along the trail, spot endemics like the Iringa red colobus and Sanje mangabey monkeys, and enjoy views of butterflies, birds, and forest flora. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the Kilombero Valley and the chance to swim at the base of the falls. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon to relax and enjoy your final evening in the mountains.
Day 5
