Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park and enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. The park is characterized by natural vegetation, primarily Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with large swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wildlife during Tanzania’s dry season. Tarangire National Park is renowned for its large elephant herds, considered some of the biggest in Africa.

This park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings.

Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge in Karatu, near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 2: Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha Town

After an early breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, arriving at the best time to spot wildlife. Enjoy a game drive around the crater and stop for a picnic lunch by a small lake within the Crater, home to hippos and migratory birds. The Crater is famous for high chances of spotting all members of The Big 5 – lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros, and buffalo.

Ngorongoro Crater, formed over two million years ago when a large volcano collapsed, is a perfectly unbroken caldera. Inside, you can expect to see zebra, hippos, wildebeest, hyenas, and flamingos along the Soda Lake. Keep an eye out for hawks, vultures, storks, ibis, and cranes as well.

After a fantastic afternoon of animal sightings, return to Arusha Town.

Day 3: Arusha Town – Arusha National Park

At 8:00 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Arusha National Park. Enjoy a walking safari with an armed ranger, followed by a picnic lunch and a game drive. The park, located at the base of Mount Meru, offers a range of habitats including forests, home to the black-and-white colobus monkeys. It’s a great location for birdwatching, and its lakes often host flocks of flamingos.

The park’s appeal lies in its stunning scenery, from montane rain forests to alpine moorland. After the game drive, you will return to your hotel in Arusha Town or head to the airport.
